MARK YOUR CALENDAR: WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 10, 1997
Call and/or Fax your Senators Tell them: VOTE NO ON S. 507!!!
Join with other American inventors, small business owners and others who demand that Congress maintain a strong U.S. patent system! On Wednesday, September 10, call your U.S. Senators and tell them you are opposed to S. 507, "The Omnibus Patent Act of 1997." For nearly 10 years legislation has been introduced in the Congress that, if enacted, would weaken inventors' rights. This legislation favors big business and international interests. So far, the "little guys" of America have been successful in preventing this legislation from becoming law. This has been a real "David and Goliath" fight . . . and one of the biggest battles is about to be waged.
GOLIATH LOBBIES On Wednesday, September 10, the "Corporate Suits" (representatives of big business) will walk the halls of the U.S. Senate. They will lobby Senators to support S. 507. This effort is being organized by the Intellectual Property Owners Assn., a national organization which "claims" to represent the interests of independent inventors. It does, in fact, represent the giant multi-national corporations and the "Corporate Suits" who will be walking the halls are on Corporate Payrolls and Corporate Expense Accounts. DAVID CALLS AND FAXES The "little guy" in this battle doesn't live on Corporate Expense Accounts . . . you can't fly to Washington, D.C. at the drop of a hat . . . Senate doors don't swing open because you're in town . . . BUT YOU CAN MAKE YOUR POSITION HEARD . Following is a list of the Senators' names by state. ALL of the Senators must receive phone calls and/or faxes on September 10 from those who oppose S. 507. Critically important, however, is that the members of the Senate Small Business Committee be contacted. These Senators are most concerned about the future of the country's small businesses and your message will make a difference!!
When you call:
As the "Corporate Suits" walk the halls of the Senate, the Senators' phones will be ringing off the hook and the fax machines will be smokin'! YOU can be part of this vital effort to let your Senators know that Big Business doesn't fuel America's economy! They may have the bucks and the corporate expense accounts and the fancy buildings and uptown addresses but IT'S AMERICA'S INVENTORS AND SMALL BUSINESSES THAT ARE THE BACKBONE OF OUR ECONOMY.
A vote against S. 507 is a vote for America's economic future!

Also, you can call the US Capitol Switchboard at (202) 224-3121. Just ask to be connected to your Senators' offices and you'll be put right through. Re member: YOU HAVE 2 SENATORS AND YOU WANT TO CALL BOTH OF THEM! Also, call Sen. Kit Bond's office. He is chair of the Small Business Committee. His phone # is 202-224-5721.
Ask your friends, family members and co-workers to call also. Every time a Senator's phone rings we're closer to defeating S. 507!!!!
