The Hook Specific Answer (To Frequently Asked Questions)

Question #8

Q8: How do you differ from the 'invention promotion' companies?
A: While the main function that we serve is as an invention broker, we are not an invention promotion company by that connotation. We do not charge exorbitant up front fees and deliver nothing; rather, we will work on a performance basis for a percentage of the transaction. These other "SCAM" companies advertise heavily on TV and in the media and pretend to be dealmakers --when in reality a typical company only actually produced about a half dozen profitable situations from a paying client base of several thousand inventors. Their business practices prompted allegations of fraud, class action lawsuits, FTC (Federal Trade Commission) intervention and legislated reform proposals. We are necessarily more selective. Also unlike these companies, we do not normally get involved in very preliminary concepts; we actually prefer if the technology is protected by an issued utility patent.
